The Jamestown Project discusses the monumental landmark, the colony of Jamestown, was in Atlantic History. The story of Jamestown is told in a much more authentic, elaborate style than our textbooks has presented. As Kupperman points out, Jamestown was not only important to United State’s history but also to British history. From the motivations to the lasting effects, she gives an accurate account of all components involved in Jamestown. Also, there is a chapter devoted to the Native American experience, which shows a non-Western view of events. The book is written in a format that is easily read but also compacted with information. These are: a) a need to meet the environmental standards in the importing countries b) a need to comply with the environmental regulations in India and a need to improve productivity c) The efficient use of raw materials, water, chemicals and power all of which will have positive environmental impact) has not been an important objective of technical change. We also find that strict enforcement of environmental regulations and the availability of financial support at concessional terms are considered by the firms to be important factors which will motivate them to adopt environmentally friendly production methods. Finally, it is unlikely that Indian firms will be able to create a niche in the international market by exporting leather produced through environmentally friendly production processes in the near future. As shown by the study, the processes used by most Indian exporters are not environmentally friendly. Furthermore, they are not in a position to acquire eco labeling, as most of them do not receive consent from the Pollution Board. We feel that the strict enforcement of environmental regulations and the provision of financial support meant especially for the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies are essential if firms are to be motivated to adopt PEST and improve their environmental performance. It is only when these steps are taken that Indian firms will have a realistic chance of emerging as an important exporter of leather goods produced with environmentally friendly production methods. Educational Implications for Heidegger's Views On Poetry And Thinking ABSTRACT: I discuss some of the educational implications emerging from Heidegger's views on poetry, thinking, and language. Specifically, Heidegger's views on the neighborhood between poetry and thinking suggest that most accepted methods of teaching poetry are in error, because they ignore this neighboring relation. The importance of this relation is presented and clarified. I then discuss the implications of Heidegger's view for teaching poetry. Heidegger's series of three lectures, later published as "The Nature of Language" has some very significant implications for education. (1) In this paper I focus on the second lecture. In opening his second lecture, Heidegger invites his listeners to think about the nature of language. Such thinking, he explains, has little to do with the quest for knowledge in the sciences. He cautions his listeners about the danger arising from the domination of method in scientific study and discourse. He cites Nietzsche who stated that what characterizes contemporary science is the victory of scientific method over science. By contrast, thinking, including thinking about the nature of language, has to do with a quite unique region in which thought exists. It is not dominated by or based on a method. Thinking is not even governed by a specific theme. In today's science, Heidegger holds, even the theme of study is a part of the method. In Paradise Lost, Satan makes God look more evil than (Satan) himself. Satan implies that God is some kind of slave driver, and that it would be "better to reign in Hell then serve in Heaven". The story is about a young girl who struggles against societys ideas of how a girl should be, only to find her trapped in the ways of the world. The story takes place on a farm. The narrator is a woman who is telling in the first point of view of when she was a young girl. Her father was a fox farmer, he was hardworking and she had a great deal of respect for him. She enjoyed working with him. The narrator had problems coming to terms with the role in life that she was expected to lead. By using the first person point of view combined with characterization, the author is able to depict the hardships and successes of passage into adulthood through her portrayal of a young narrator. She was also able to examine the different roles that society has defined for boys and girls. Alice Munro's short story, "Boys and Girls, has a very interesting detail written into it. The narrator's brother is named Laird, which was carefully chosen by the author. Laird is a synonym for lord, which plays an important role in a story where a young girl has society's unwritten rules forced upon her. At the time of the story, society did not consider men and women equal. The name that the author chose for the narrators brother symbolized how the male child was superior in the parents eyes and in general. The name also symbolizes the difference between the sexes when this story took place. The time when this story took place was a time when men and women were not considered equivalent.
